Mendix — Rapid Developer Certification | Preparation Guide
Hello everyone, this week I passed the Mendix Rapid Developer exam. So, I am here to share my experience and guidance on how to prepare for it. When I was preparing for this certification, I couldn’t find anything related to it in either Medium and even in Google too. That is the main reason for this guide as I don’t want anyone else to face the same struggle which I faced.
Introduction
This certification provides candidates with baseline knowledge of the Mendix platform and knows where to find information using the documentation and forum. This certification is proof of your basic Mendix knowledge and demonstrates that you can join a project team and independently build prototypes.

- Passing Score: 75% on total, and 60% on each category

Become a Rapid Developer
Mendix provides official full course for Rapid Developer exam. This is a 24 hours course with a combination of training videos, theory, quizzes and hands on assignments. For hands on, you will require an installation of the Mendix Studio Pro application.

Crash Course
Mendix also provides a crash course for Rapid Developer exam. This is a 16 hours course with a combination of training videos, theory, quizzes and hands on assignments. This module is for experienced developers. If you don’t have coding experience, please follow the Rapid Developer Course as mentioned above.

Certification Appointment Booking
Please follow below steps to book appointment for the certification exam:
- Go to https://academy.mendix.com/link/certification/rapid
- Use your existing Mendix account to log in or create a new account and log in.
- Click ‘Get Certified’ button.
- Provide the details and complete the registration.
- You will receive a certification exam invitation email with link to take up the exam.
System Test (Prior to Exam Day)
There is no specific software to be installed for taking up this exam. You can take up the exam in your existing web browser itself.
On Certification Day
You can start with the certification exam as soon as you receive the exam invitation email. There is no specific time limit for the exam. You can take as much time as you need. Most people usually take around 1 hour to complete the exam.
Some tips…
- There are totally 50 questions and you have no specific time limit. So take your time to read the question carefully before choosing the answer and also review each question once you completed all questions.
- The answers that you saved in your previous session also will be persisted in next login session. So, you can stop taking test in between and come back if needed. But, I would recommend to complete it in one go.
- Pass percentage is 75% — so even though you give wrong answers to 12 questions, you still can pass the exam :) Hence don’t panic if you don’t know answers for few questions.
- There is no negative marking. So, please don’t leave any questions unanswered.
- Please make sure that you are getting your hands dirty by developing the LearnNow app which is created in the online course. As some of the questions might be based on your experience in it.
- You can also have a look at the knowledge checks provided at the end of each module. The level of the exam questions is slightly higher than the questions on the knowledge checks. However, if you achieve a score of 80% at the knowledge checks, that’s a nice indication for the exam!
